Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam

 

 Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was a prominent Indian scientist and politician who served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He was born on October 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, and passed away on July 27, 2015, in Shillong, Meghalaya.

Before becoming the President of India, Dr. Kalam worked as a scientist and engineer at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). He played a key role in the development of India's first satellite launch vehicle and ballistic missile technology.

Dr. Kalam was widely regarded as the "People's President" due to his humble and down-to-earth nature. He was a strong advocate of education and believed that young people could play a crucial role in building a better India. He wrote many books, including "Wings of Fire", which chronicled his life and career, and "India 2020", which outlined his vision for the future of India.

Dr. Kalam was awarded numerous honors and awards, including the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, and the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. He was also a recipient of several honorary doctorates from universities around the world.
